2005

The Kingdom Kids rolled into the new year with a roller skating party at the Dairy Ashford Roller Skating Rink. The kids had a great time on the skate floor, round and round, up and down they all went Some fast, some slow but fun, fun, fun at the first get together of 2005!!

We all arrived safe and sound on Friday night and unpacked. We met in the “foxhole” and discussed the next days schedule and had a talent contest. The kingdom kids showed some great and also some unusual talents! We then settled into our cabins for lights out at 10:15. Although some cabins were up past lights out for awhile (can you say the older boy's cabin!).

Saturday morning started with breakfast followed by a bible study conducted by Mrs. Gabany. After the bible study we broke into 3 groups (younger, older and really older kids : ) and headed to our 2 hour challenge courses. Some of the challenges were easy and some really hard but they all made you think and work together! After lunch (we were all hungry!) and some free time we went to the trading post to buy some goodies. Then off to the afternoon challenge course (and we though the morning course was hard!). After dinner we met in the foxhole to discuss the challenges, then off to a scavenger hunt in the hanger. To end the day we sang songs around the campfire and made smores, those counselors sang pretty good!

On Sunday it rained all day : ( We had breakfast then Sunday church service led by Pastor Brown. We cleaned up, packed up and headed into town for lunch at Dairy Queen, then off to home! A fun (and exhausting) time was had by all!!!!!

"It's show time!" as Mr. Incredible would say. We had a GREAT turnout at the first family movie night of the year to watch The Incredibles. Once again the weather cooperated except for a few rain drops. The hamburgers, hotdogs and desserts were were all very tasty. This years Kingdom Kids Kickball had Kingdom Kids of all ages playing the game and having a GREAT time!!!. The game ended in a 12-12 tie but everyone went home a winner! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to be outside to get a little exercise. The big kids (adults) seemed worn out after the game while the kids went on to play some more in the gym right afterwards, what energy our Kingdom Kids have! There were some great plays, kicks, catches but most of all lots-o-fun!!!!!!!!!!!

If you weren't there you missed a splashing good time at the Gabany's pool! We had a great time swimming in a cool pool, sliding on the water slide, playing with all the pool toys and floating on the floats. All the food was really yummy too! We sure had a cool pool time!

Let's go on a safari, there’s lots of animals I can’t wait to see. Lions and zebras, rhinos and elephants, giraffes that grow to be so tall…… Well the Kingdom Kids and all who attended Vacation Bible School sure learned a lot this week and had so much fun doing it! This year was the best VBS yet, what will next year have in store?

Well the water slide was supposed to be on the last day of VBS on Friday but was rescheduled to Sunday because of the weather. So what happened on Sunday? More real bad weather then a power outage : ( But after we ate the weather cleared and the power came back on and it was off to the water slide!!!!!

Nightime, Friday, bunch-o-kids, lots-o-fun : ) : ) We did karaoke and had a talent show showing off the talented Krazy Kingdom Kids talents. We ate pizza, yum, yum and learned the Kingdom Kids Praise March and even picked up marbles with our toes : O A great time was had by all!!!!!!!

In September the Kingdom Kids had a car wash to raise funds to help the victims of hurricane Katrina. Over $460 was raised through this effort, thanks to the generous CMLC members who also got a sparkling clean car out of the deal!

Our picnic at Mary Jo Peckham park was soooooo much fun. We played "The Amazing Kingdom Kids Race", played miniature golf and played on the playground. Sounds like a lot of playing to me! The food was great too and those burgers were extremely thick and tasty Mr. Howard!

In November the Kingdom Kids went to Santa's Wonderland in College Station. We got to see snow when we first walked in. We ate a yummy dinner and got to see Elvis live! We saw Santa, had pony rides and went to the petting zoo. Then we took a hayride and saw over 2 MILLION Christmas lights and many cool displays! We had a great time and will be going back next year too!

Our annual KK Christmas party was tons of fun. We had a delicious ham and turkey dinner with all the fixin's, then worked on a Christmas skit. One of the favorite activities was the yummy chocolate fountain. Mr. Brown gave us great instructions on how to keep the chocolate off our clothes, EVERYONE had chocolate on them somewhere. We had it all over our hands and faces and some of us even had it on our clothes. We also enjoyed making ornaments (thank you Mrs. Rincon for helping us) and of course, the presents. Our skit reminded us that Jesus is the greatest present of all.

And He Shall Be Called.... Once again another smash hit Sunday School Children's Christmas Program was presented this year. Many thanks not only to the actors but to ALL the people involved on the stage and behind the scenes to make this years program so great! Many thanks to the parents for allowing their children to participate and supporting the program this year.
